Divinity ascended,
Always out of reach,
Not a flaw in sight,
Lessons forever to teach.
Warmth, passion, love,
Like a mother to her child,
Looking down from above,
Serenity with a smile,
Wisdom shared freely,
Yet she sits in the sky,
Why won’t she come down,
To play instead of fly?
I know I must learn,
I know I must grow,
Why must I work,
There’s fun places to go!
Wait, did I make a mistake?
Did I say something wrong?
Should I become someone else?
Should I sing a different song?
I cannot embody perfection,
I’ll simply be me instead,
I thank you for your attempts,
But I no longer need to be led.

I grew up without the psychological safety to be myself, and recognized the spiral of self-doubt in the second last stanza instantly. That’s what makes the ending, choosing self-acceptance over being led, such a liberating moment.
ooooooh this is definitely one of my favs from you. Amazing job.
